Counselling can help people understand themselves, their life and their relationships with others in a new light. Counselling helps people learn new skills, change their behaviour and find new and different ways of coping with life’s many problems. People who use counselling often feel more motivated and find more meaning in life.

Our counselling is offered on a sliding scale, with the first appointment being free. At the first meeting, your counsellor will discuss fees and payments with you.


I’m grateful to live in the unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw People. I am grandfather to many and a practicing professional healer, trainer, community advocate and navigator for 40 years. I co-create a world of inclusion and connection by being fierce light (living and modeling a life of vulnerability, compassion and social activism that brings transformation). I am a registered clinical counsellor and supervisor with The CPCA and a mediator. I often lead workshops, support circles, community engagement events and love leading youth and men to rites of passage. My background is in indigenous communities, the military, alternative culture and teen peer support and families. I work with many modalities to address complex trauma, grief, human sexuality & identity, legal concerns, couples, teens, First Nations/Indigenous, Race/Ism.

When I’m not working in community I’m often skipper of our tribal canoe with my grand kids and extended community or walking with my support and guide dog Loki .. who also likes being a therapist and emotional support to who ever arrives. I’m enjoy weekend retreats and build community housing. I am passionate about food sovereignty, cultural social justice and co-creating intentional communities, Families and relationships

Ryan brings a decade of experience in residential support to his practicum at the Nanaimo Men’s Centre, where he’s completing his master’s in clinical counselling psychology from Yorkville University.

He has dedicated his career to serving youth and young adults as a mental health professional, supporting them through challenging transitions. Ryan is passionate about solution-focused therapy and building community resilience by fostering a deep understanding of men’s lived experiences.

He will actively engage with clients through co-facilitated men’s groups and individual sessions.

Beyond his clinical work, Ryan is an avid storyteller with a passion for intercultural dialogue and interests spanning mythology, technology, nature, and creative writing.

Mark is a caring professional counsellor who believes the therapeutic relationship is the most fruitful part of counselling. Mark works with adults of all ages, including people experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma, brain injury, grief, loss, life transitions, self-worth, and finding fulfilment in life. Mark understands that asking for help isn’t easy, and his work reflects a non-judgemental approach to those who might otherwise find it difficult to reach out. Mark earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in the UK and completed his Diploma in Professional Counselling in Canada. Mark also has specialized training in existential counselling and psychotherapy accredited through the International Society for Existential Analysis in Vienna. More recently, Mark has been adapting his work to support male survivors of sexual trauma and intimate partner abuse, as well as men experiencing eating disorders. Mark has been active in various non-profit roles throughout his career, including board member, executive director, coach, mentor, and educator. Bringing a combination of experience, education, and enthusiasm to his work, Mark is grateful to be able to share his passion with the Men’s Centre. In his personal life, Mark enjoys spending time with his family and experiencing the great outdoors.
